63 % of Romanian companies with CSR activities increase budget
This year, 63 percent of the companies involved in CSR will allocate between EUR 5,000 and EUR 500,000 for projects of social responsibility and sustainability. Thus, 14 percent will spend between EUR 5,000 and EUR 10,000, 27 percent will spend between EUR 10,000 and EUR 50,000, while 21 percent will spend between EUR 50,000 and EUR 500,000, shows the third edition of the “CSR trends and realities in Romania – 2015” study, conducted by CSRmedia.ro and by EY Romania.
Compared to last year, almost half (49 percent) of the companies that unroll CSR activities increased their budget for 2015. Thus, 32 percent registered a 10 percent increase in CSR budget, while 17 percent allocated a budget up by 10 percent to 30 percent.
If in 2014, half of this budget came from undeductible allocations and only 37 percent from deductible allocations, this year percentages have almost reversed – 51 percent of the CSR budget comes from tax deductible allocations, while only 35 percent comes from undeductible allocations. According to these results, companies use better the tax incentives that are available to them in order to get involved in the community.
These findings show a greater concern from companies to integrate CSR activities in their business strategy, amid a growing interest from the business environment, media and civil society regarding this field.
The third edition of the “CSR trends and realities in Romania – 2015” study conducted by CSRmedia.ro and by EY Romania is based on a questionnaire applied during the period April 27 to May 25, 2015 on a sample of 311 top executives from the local business segment and CSR specialists.
